SO! You want to build a website to sell your artifacts on. Please take the time to read this before you take off and dive into it.
One reason I built this site is to warn others in the artifact community of the high prices of banner advertising and the rape of individuals in our community for hosting artifact related websites. It was brought to my attention and I was asked to create a website about it and didn’t believe it was a bad idea. Making money off people from what the person doesn’t know has been going on for years. Now with the internet new online users are really being taken advantage of in my opinion, more than taking advantage of….. I mean raped big time over what they don’t know or know how to do (create a website). So if you’ve been thinking of getting your own website please read on.
First let me say this: No host is worth over $20 a month Secondly: Site templates in most cases a real nice one would cost less than $100, tons of them are around for free. Buy one or make one and you use it as many times as you want or sell it as many times as you want for that matter….get it? It takes only a few minutes to drop a template on a server and is so easy a 10 year old kid could do it. So why, just why have people in the artifact community gone and paid as much as $900 for yearly server space and had nothing more than a template dropped on the server for them. Why would anyone pay as much as $30 a month to run a banner on a site?
Don’t get caught with your pants down!

So you’re asking yourself right now why am I doing this, like I said above I’ve had more than a few friends get raped with the high prices already and I was asked to and let me add dared too. So I’m not looking for any financial gain in the matter, just trying to be helpful.
If you’ve read this far let me suggest you contact one of the host listed on this site for more information or contact one of the web designers here or myself. It’s not as hard as you would think and people here are willing to help without raping you or taking advantage of you over what you may or may not know.
Now let’s move on with what’s involved in getting you setup. Your Domain is nothing to setup as long as it’s available here’s a link that’ll let you do a search to see if the domain you had in mind is taken or not. http://www.dotster.com/ If the domain you want isn’t taken buy it. Pointing your domain to your host takes nothing more than a few clicks and is pretty simple. Buying your domain name should never cost more than $20 a year, in most cases less. Always remember to renew your domain before it expires, people are in the business of buying domains that people forget to pay in high hopes of reselling them back to them at a high price. It’s a pain to lose your domain, always pay in advance to avoid problems…. like your domain name being taken.
Picking your host is not a hard one but remember all host are not good. Hosting is a business and owners can change at any time. I highly suggest picking one of the two from this site but if you want do a google search I suggest finding a host that ranks high, like in the top ten.
Decide which page editor you want to learn and use. Adobe Macromedia Dreamweaver is the best IMO but takes more time to learn to use and is more expensive. MS Front Page is the most common, cheaper priced and easier to use. After you finish making your decision on which editor you’ll be using you’ll need to decide if you’re going to create a template or buy one, buying templates can save you a lot of time, on the other hand making your own template will give you design results closer to what you have in mind. Some templates come standard in the editor you just bought but are pretty commonly used.
Good luck!
